Joppa Village Chesterfield
Joppa Village is a permanent supportive housing community designed to provide stability and dignity for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. The development includes 54 tiny homes ranging from approximately 192 to 384 square feet, organized as a mix of single-family homes, duplexes and triplexes. Each residence features a private bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette, creating an independent living environment while supporting long-term housing retention.
A defining element of the community is the adaptive reuse of the historic Chesterfield School, originally constructed in the late 1800s. The renovated building serves as the village’s community hub, providing shared dining facilities, kitchen space, healthcare services, storage, worship space and a new gymnasium addition. Inspired by the nationally recognized Community First! model, the design emphasizes connection, accessibility and supportive services, creating a walkable neighborhood focused on fostering independence and a strong sense of community.
