Hi-Shear Plating Facility

Hi-Shear, part of Lisi Aerospace, is a leading manufacturer of precision mechanical fasteners
the aerospace and defense industries. Working as part of a design-build team with Oltmans Construction Company, BSB Design provided programming/site analysis through design and construction of a new state-of-the art chemical plating facility on Lisi’s 14-acre campus. This multi-faceted project entailed the demolition of the original plating facility and the design and construction of a new 3,600-squarefoot
wastewater treatment plant. The project challenges included environmental concerns. The handling of hazardous materials, as well as their eventual treatment and disposal, required close coordination with the fire department’s various environmental agencies. Also due to the site’s adjacency to the Torrance Airport, coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration was required. The project was delivered on a phased approach, to facilitate continuous production for the client.
