Terry Smith, LEED AP
Terry Smith joined BSB Design in 1998 and currently leads the firm’s community design efforts in Chicago. He has over 30 years of diverse landscape architectural experience, primarily in the Midwest, with additional experience in North Carolina and the Southeast. Terry has been responsible for land planning and landscape architecture for a diverse collection of residential and mixed use communities. He has experience creating themed expression and community design and land planning for golf communities, multifamily villages and single family PUDs.
His extensive experience in project coordination and administration allows him to take an overall approach to a project, integrating the residential, commercial, and recreation components into exciting communities that are profitable for their developers. Prior to joining BSB, Terry’s work included plaza and waterfront developments; urban design and streetscape planning; urban and suburban site development; park and recreation design; transportation corridor visual assessment, and several downtown revitalization and streetscape plans.
Terry finds joy dabbling in his garden that he considers a 'working laboratory' for hardscape and landscape plantings. He has a wife, Donna, and son, Erik, who will start his career soon as a nuclear engineer. Terry was born and raised south of Chicago on a farm where he grew to appreciate landscape architecture. His other interests include fitness training three times a week and a weekly piano lesson.
