The 2025 Gold Nugget Awards wrapped up at PCBC in Anaheim. BSB Design received 1 Gold and 12 Merit honors in key categories. These awards recognize design range across single family, multifamily, affordable and innovation-forward work.
Rose Hill Courts Phase 1 – Los Angeles, CA
Category: Best Affordable Housing Community 30 to 60 du/acre
This two-phase redevelopment, led by The Related Companies and built by RD Olson, replaces a mid-20th-century public housing complex with 185 affordable units. Phase 1 delivered 89 apartments for existing residents while preserving community access. The project spans 5.24 acres on a steeply sloped site and incorporates gathering spaces, grading strategies and landscape features to support low-income families, including seniors.
Ocean 17 – Carlsbad, CA
Category: Best Multifamily Housing Community 30 to 60 du/acre
Steps from the beach and near downtown Carlsbad, Ocean 17 combines density with design-forward living. Built by R&R Construction and Abington Emerson, the project balances walkability, privacy and modern appeal in a tight coastal footprint.
