Junior Commercial Interior Designer

Purpose of the Position

The Junior Commercial Interior Designer will assist our interior design teams in the design and development of various commercial interior design projects. This position requires a thorough knowledge of drafting and related practices using AutoCAD and Revit software. Additional duties may include assisting in the selection of interior finishes and fixtures, excel spreadsheet input, and modeling in Sketch-Up under the direction of senior staff. This position requires the ability to recognize and resolve moderately complex problems, communicate effectively, adapt to changes and elect most effective methods of accomplishing tasks, as well as general studio keeping. 


  • Follows standard drafting practices and reviews standard reference sources to accomplish design intent.
  • Coordinates production activities with other groups and individuals based on a daily schedule. 
  • Reviews completed drawings for conformance to project program and specifications, approved practices, standards, and codes governing the work.
  • Independently resolve problems or obtain assistance from more experienced staff to resolve more complex issues. 
  • Completes revisions and redlines as directed by reviewing staff.
  • Participates in meetings and offers technical recommendations regarding the development of new drafting categories or in using alternative methods of accomplishing tasks and requirements. 
  • Assist in generating design concepts, interior finish selections, furniture drawings and presentation boards.
  • Respond to Senior Staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicates with product representative to attain samples and new materials.
  • Help maintain Interior Design Resource Library and sample area.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • 2+ years related experience in related projects
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, and Sketch-Up
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to multitask, work as part of a team and work independently on multiple projects
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Versatile, self-motivated, and articulate
