Chapel Hill, NC
The new student housing community of Grove Park will be in high demand for University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill students. With its prime location just half a mile from campus, it will house 849 residences in two distinct building types. Two four-story buildings have a modern approach and massing while using traditional materials and finishes which contrast from three two-story townhouse-style apartment buildings designed with a graduate student or small family in mind. These townhouse-style buildings sit on the edge of the historic district and have been designed to blend with existing architecture in order to connect the streetscape along Hillsborough Street. A final structure provides parking spaces for Grove Park residences.
Amenities include an integrated two-story clubhouse with a study/lounge space, yoga and exercise rooms, gaming area and outdoor pool. An indoor/outdoor space gives flexibility to the clubhouse and connects the pool deck with the interior of the building. The four-story buildings have study rooms, a roof terrace and courtyards that include grilling stations, a hammock lounge area and fire pit.
