It’s a question that architects and designers ask themselves every day and on every project. And it’s a question that involves much more than just window placement and site orientation.
Good design responds to the market and the client, helping to make the most out of a challenge and to help spaces live well, years after the paint is new and the finishes unmarred. Good design thinks of both the present and the future, imagining how residents will use rooms today but how they might use them in the future, too.
And good design equals success: an institutional structure that helps a community, a multi-resident, multi-floor building that’s full and active, a townhome that’s enviable, a single family home that invites memory making at parties and holidays and, well, every day.
This issue of inspire is full of those buildings, of the lessons we at BSB Design learn every day about what it means to design buildings well, to design buildings for today, and to design buildings for the future. We hope that you enjoy reading the stories behind their creation and exploring the country, too. We look forward to the next round of good design for our clients – now and in the future.
