seamarkrancher.gifAfter years in the making, the wait is finally over for some very deserving children. In late October of 2007, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official grand opening of the first Girls' Home at Seamark Ranch, a faith based children’s orphanage in Jacksonville, FL. The building will house eight abandoned or abused girls.

The design for the Girls' Home was the product of our annual design competition and reflects the collaboration of many BSB Design employees. Our goal was to create a place that feels like a home, not an institution.

The Folk Victorian facade has a deliberate feminine appeal. Large gathering spaces, like the broad front and rear porches, provide ample room for the entire "family", and the girls will surely enjoy the beautiful rural north Florida setting. Girls will share second floor bedrooms and baths, and the adoptive house parents have private space on the main floor.

Creating homes for these unique families has given us great pride and satisfaction. But the inspiration gained from Seamark Ranch transcends all our work. We strive to design homes and communities that enhance how families live, love, play and grow. No doubt, the girls and adoptive parents at Seamark Ranch will benefit from this inspired design for years to come.
